When magic has gone from the world, and a vicious king rules from his throne of glass, an assassin comes to the castle. She does not come to kill, but to win her freedom. If she can defeat twenty-three killers, thieves, and warriors in a competition to find the greatest assassin in the land, she will become the King’s Champion and be released from prison.

Her name is Celaena Sardothien.

The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her.

And a princess from a foreign land will become the one thing Celaena never thought she’d have again: a friend.

But something evil dwells in the castle–and it’s there to kill. When her competitors start dying, horribly, one by one, Celaena’s fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival–and a desperate quest to root out the source of evil before it destroys her world.

 My POV :-

"Sometimes, the wicked will tell us things just to confuse us–to haunt our thoughts long after we've faced them."

A Magnificent Epic Fantasy Debut!!
Such An original plot!!!

“I wasn't going to kill him, you buffoon.”

Celaene Sardothien.- Will Of steel, a sharp mind, a keen eye and cutting wit, Meet the Assassin!!

Fans of adventure-packed fantasy will appreciate this Debut... and the cover.. Oh so pretty, I did face a bit of a problem with unpronounceable fantasy names, especially for the main characters (But thanks to authors website, Pronunciation guide is Here).
Little does Celaena realize that accepting Prince Dorian's offer and leaving for the journey to the glass castle will change her life and introduce her to world of twisted politics magic she thought was vanished from the world. Overseeing her training, is Chaol Westfall, the no nonsense captain of the guard and also Prince Dorian’s best friend.  Two heroes, what do you expect, A love triangle?? Indeed, there is a hint of that. Celaena is smart women but she didn't used her feminity to manipulate either of them. As for now, she herself is confused (though she doesn't know that). but the story never veers off course. There were times when story had me on edge indicating Celaene untimely death. Thankfully, it's a series.

Prince Dorian seemed kind of a jerk at the beginning but later I found out he is completely misunderstood. He is one of those heroes who hides pain perfectly but at the same time are very transparent. He doesn't have much in his control, yet he is not weak. He loathes his father, the King, for the way he is running the kingdom and treating the slaves and often stands up to him. The captain of the guard, Chaol, is a different story altogether, He stars liking the assassin but exactly when, it's not clear to him. His presence is not very much there in the story so his character is yet to be reveled completely. He is a duty bound guard but has a soft spot. Between the two heroes, I find Prince Dorian more intriguing, but of course Assassin and captain of the guard is gonna end up together and as far as Prince Dorian is concerned, there is yet another very interesting hard core Princess present, Princes Elentiya. Celaena's character reacts to every circumstance with either ridiculous violence or romantic cliches, which can be a bit of a problem. All in all An adventures epic fantasy journey waiting for all of us in book stores.
